Sometimes It’s Fate

by Kelly on January 14, 2011

Well, it’s a New Year!  Be open.  Love.  Try new things.  Travel.  What is it about the passing of a year that makes us all re-evaluate our lives and our gym routines?!

As you sit and ponder on what fate may have in store for you in 2011, one Louisiana native seems to have found just that… her fate…as an artist.  If you are in the New Orleans area, wander on down to Julia Street.  There’s a new kid on the block.  Mallory Page.

The pretty little all white studio nestled in the famous warehouse arts district is the perfect backdrop for the artists’s contemporary pieces.

“I started painting professionally about five years ago.  I still had no idea I would be an actual “artist.” It just didn’t seem like something I could just…DO. Five years, countless paintings, blood, sweat, and acrylic, you look up, your life has suddenly evolved and you think “Ohhhhhh, Ok, it was SUPPOSED to be this way.”

Artist she is!  The beautiful combinations of subtle pastels and earth tones are done in acrylic and a mix of almost anything else she can get her hands on…ink, oil, charcoal, crayon, pencil!

The work looks absolutely stunning in this interior shot from Phoebe Howard.  2011, watch out!  Mallory Page is IN…the studio!  This year may just be the best yet!

“I did a lot of traveling last year that I think is just now showing itself in my newest work.  The more you observe, the more you learn, the deeper you get.  My work is pure emotion, so you’ve got to have good experiences to keep pulling from.”
